Alchemist’s Umineko Character Redesign

August 25, 2010

I…wait, what?

It appears that Alchemist will be redesigning the characters for their probable Umineko port, although these redesigns are pretty drastic. I presume that the two above are Ange and Jessica, due to their outfits and hair colors. Although for some reason Jessica has the twintails and Ange has the ponytail, instead of the other way around. I’m going out on a limb here and saying that the two from the last portrait are supposed to be Bernkastel and Lambdadelta, exactly how they resemble them, I have no idea.

Anyways, their new designs will take some getting used to, and I don’t even know if these designs will be reflected in the character sprites too, since portrait art and sprite art are vastly different in the original. Unless these portraits are CGs and all of Alchemist’s sprites will use this style, but that would be kind of creepy…

(PS3/X360/PC) Portal 2 Release Date + New Footage

August 21, 2010

At Gamescom 2010 Valve has announced that the release date for Portal 2 will be February 9, 2011. When it was pushed back into 2011 a couple months ago I think we all feared we would have to wait quite awhile to get our hands on it, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

Along with the release date, they also discussed the new voice actor, Stephen Merchant, who will be voicing Wheately, the British robot featured in the gameplay videos from E3. Stephen Merchant is popular for being a writer and actor on the UK version of The Office. News comes via Gamepro.

I’m quite excited for this. Although I’m not really sure if I’ll have enough funds to get both this and Ar Tonelico Qoga.

(PS3/X360) Catherine PV features Studio 4°C

August 19, 2010

Yep. The promotional video for Atlus’s first foray into HD gaming, Catherine, has been released earlier today. Frankly, I wasn’t really that excited until this PV came along. Bach + Meguro + Studio 4°C = Instant win for me. God that rap track is so cool. I’m quite excited for this now and can’t wait for the eventual North American release (you all know there’ll be one). Especially since Studio 4°C is involved. For those of you who aren’t familiar with Studio 4°C, hit the jump to sample some of their works. Read the rest of this entry ?

Possible Umineko Alchemist Port

August 18, 2010

Well Alchemist has put up a new page on their site about this, and from the looks of it, it appears that Alchemist will be making a port of Umineko. Or maybe, they’re doing a spinoff of Umineko, seeing as how the two characters (and the floating head thing) in the portrait are not in Umineko at all. Unless they do a total redesign of all the characters for some reason and that’s supposed to be Bernkastel and Lambdadelta or something. I kind of doubt it though. But it’s pretty obvious that their new project has something to do with Umineko, what with the obvious portrait style, the One-Winged Eagle behind the girl, and the fact that their new page practically screams Umineko. Oh well, we’ll see. And if this is a port, then there’ll be a delicious sprite patch to make rereading Umineko more worthwhile.
