Future original Shaft project to contain magical girls *edit*

October 28, 2010

Still not a music review lol.

In case you missed my previous post about this, the basic rundown is that Shaft/Shinbo will be creating an original anime with the assistance of Gen Urobuchi of Nitroplus fame and Ume Aoki of Hidamari Sketch fame. A couple more tidbits of information have been released since then, which can be found after the jump. Read the rest of this entry ?

Shaft to make an original animation

October 21, 2010

The confirmation came during a commercial that played during Togainu no Chi, and the report is that Akiyuki Shinbo will be directing the animation at SHAFT (Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, Bakemonogatari), Gen Urobuchi (Phantom ~Requiem for the Phantom~, Fate/Zero) of Nitroplus will be in charge of the writing, and Ume Aoki (Hidamari Sketch) will be in charge of the original designs.

With SHAFT never making an original anime in their studio’s career, I am both intrigued and disturbed what kind of series will come out of this. Take into account that the writer of Phantom of the Redundant Title is involved along with the designs of Hidamari Sketch, and you’ve got some unholy trinity of anime or something. This will either be incredibly amazing or a huge trainwreck. Either way, it’ll be entertaining in some shape or form.

Hopefully SHAFT will have a budget for this. But knowing them, they’ll blow it on the OP/ED animations.

NisiOisin – Zaregoto Book 2: The Kubishime Romanticist

September 9, 2010

If you think you’re a twisted human being, you probably haven’t met Ii-chan yet.

What to say, what to say about this light novel? I just spent the past hour procrastinating on homework to finish reading this, and by god it was totally worth it. It’s been a while since I last read the Kubikiri Cycle, so my memory is a little fuzzy when it comes to Ii-chan’s character, or perhaps, his lack thereof. Strangely enough, this book’s cast refers to him as Iikun, so I guess I’ll go about using that name for this review. Read the rest of this entry ?

Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt PV

September 8, 2010

I…I…I…uh…uhhh…ummm…hmm…I…wait…what?

The previous sentence is enough to describe my feelings about this PV. Of course, “what the f**k did I just watch?” works just as well. Either way, this strange combination of Powerpuff Girls, GIR from Invader Zim, and Gainax is more than enough reason for the first episode to find its way into my library.

Mindf**kery aside, hit the jump for more information about this series. Read the rest of this entry ?

Mitsudomoe Second Season Green-Lit

September 6, 2010

It’s as the title says.

If you’ve been keeping up with the recent anime season, then chances are you’re probably heard something about the Mitsudomoe. It’s pretty much Japanese South Park, with hilarious innuendos and misunderstandings making up the bulk of this comedy. The is probably the funniest anime I’ve ever seen, making me bust my gut consistently for almost every episode. I just love misunderstanding based humor, and surprisingly it hasn’t gotten old for me throughout its 10 episode run so far.

Here’s to more misunderstandings, innuendos, Hitoha, and Nipples.

(Movie Review) Summer Wars

September 5, 2010

It’s like Digimon and Yu-Gi-Oh! had a baby and that baby was raised by Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann.

As I’m sure most if not all of you might have noticed, I haven’t done much outside of music reviews since I revived drizzly rain. So, while it’s still fresh in my mind, here’s drizzly rain’s first movie review. Read the rest of this entry ?

Hyakka Ryouran Samurai Girls OP/ED

September 3, 2010

Goddamn it Faylan.

So apparently the first episode came up on a preview stream, and damn that opening is cool. I mean, just from what I hear and the opening content, I can tell that this will probably turn out as a trashy fanservice anime, BUT THAT ARTSTYLE. It’s like a combination of Katanagatari’s style with normal anime designs. I wasn’t planning to watch this at all before, probably just was going to watch the first episode but not plan anything past that, BUT DAMMIT IT’S FAYLAN. And inkblots are always pretty cool.

ED isn’t really too impressive though. Hit the jump to see it. Read the rest of this entry ?
