(Star Driver OP1) Aqua Timez – GRAVITY Ф

October 13, 2010

I don’t even watch Star Driver.

Album: GRAVITY Ф
Artist/Circle: Aqua Timez
Release Type: Commercial anime single
Release Date: 10/13/2010

  1. GRAVITY Ф
Aqua Timez apparently has one of those nasally vocalists who you either can stand of absolutely abhor. Luckily for me, I’m pretty okay with nasally vocalists. The vocalist seems to have a doujin-ish feel to him even though this is a commercial album, which means that while I’m usually fine with this kind of vocalist in doujin, I have to take a few points off since this is commercial. But aside from the nasally vocals, the melody is pretty cool, with great guitar riffs and melodies. It’s a great song once you get past the vocals.
  2. Tsuki no Curtain
That nasally voice? Kinda annoying at the beginning. If I didn’t always give a song a complete listen through before removing it from my library, I’d be getting rid of this song in the first 10 seconds. Thankfully, it becomes a lot more bearable after that beginning. It’s a slower paced rock song, yet not slow enough to qualify as a rock ballad. It’s a pretty average song overall, with the only thing setting it apart from other songs being the vocal. I’ll let you decide on whether that’s good or not.
  3. Pocket no Naka no Uchuu
That whistling is annoying. And the acoustic guitar paired along with the melody makes this sound like a boy band song or something, a song for brainless teenage fangirls to faun over just because the singer is your typical boy band fair. AND THAT WHISTLING FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF.
  4. GRAVITY Ф -Instrumental-
This version doesn’t have the nasally vocals. Yay?

Rating: 2/5 (The melody for GRAVITY is pretty cool, but the averageness of the other two songs along with the nasally vocals pull down the score for this single by a good amount.)
